Breaking: Les AuCoin Endorses Mike Caudle

Big news, folks. This weekend, Mike received the endorsement of Les AuCoin, a man who has dedicated his life to improving the lot of Oregonians and served his state and his country for over three decades. After serving in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964, AuCoin was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 1970. By his second term in the chamber, AuCoin was elected Majority Leader, and in 1974 was elected to the U.S. House from the first congressional district -- the first Democrat elected from that seat in nearly a century. AuCoin was subsequently elected another eight times.

I am pleased to announce my endorsement of Mike Caudle for the Oregon House of Representatives, District 39.

Mike is a promising young star of Oregon politics who promises to bring much-needed change to Salem this fall. Already he has spent many years serving his community, as student body president at Clackamas Community College and Oregon State University, as a coach, as an educator and as a member of the Oregon City budget commission. This commitment to service and dedication to bettering his community show that he has what it takes to be a fantastic state Representative.

Not only does Mike have the skills and background to accomplish good things in Salem, he has also laid out a set of legislative priorities that would help move Oregon forward in the right direction. As an educator Mike will put children first, increasing funding for public schools so that all kids get in a full school year, protecting children from online predators and working to get healthcare for Oregon's 110,000 uninsured children. He also believes that the legislature should protect and support Oregon's families by reining in predatory lenders, ensuring access to affordable healthcare and putting state troopers back on the highways to stop the flow of meth. Lastly, he will work to change the tone in Salem and make sure the legislature's top priority is the Oregon electorate -- not the special interests and well-funded lobbies.

We need more people like Mike in Salem so that we can move forward towards a better future for Oregon's families. That's why I hope you will join me in supporting Mike this fall.

Les AuCoin
U.S. Representative, Oregon First Congressional District (1975-1993)
